Concert “Musical Offering to Maestro Temirkanov from the Musical Olympus Foundation” to take place in the Grand Hall of St Petersburg Academic Philharmonia

On December, 22 the Grand Hall of the Shostakovich St Petersburg Academic Philharmonia will host the concert “Musical Offering to Maestro Temirkanov from the Musical Olympus Foundation”.

The concert is held within the “Arts Square” Festival and is timed to celebrate the anniversary of maestro Temirkanov. The 75th anniversary of maestro concurred with his major professional milestone – Yuri Temirkanov has led the Shostakovich St Petersburg Academic Philharmonia for 25 years.

Irina Nikitina, President of the Musical Olympus Foundation: “Maestro Yuri Temirkanov has a light hand and a generous heart. He gave his blessing to many new projects that have been launched and developed under his supervision and received critical acclaim. The International Musical Olympus Festival is one of such projects. We will always remember that and remain endlessly thankful to maestro for his support and faith in our idea.”

At the concert the musicians who have set on a challenging journey to reach the musical Olympus will perform for world-renowned modern conductor, maestro Temirkanov, who has already conquered it.

The winners of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for piano - 2013 Boris Giltburg (I prize, Israel), Rémi Geniet (II prize, France), and Mateusz Borowiak  (III prize, Great Britain – Poland) will perform the works by Mozart, Chopin, and Rachmaninov to the accompaniment of the honoured Russian Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St Petersburg Philharmonia.
